BNP Chief Mirza Fakhrul Pays Tribute to Zia, Khaleda

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Chowdhury, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), visited memorials dedicated to founding father Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to pay his respects. The visit underscores the party's continued reverence for two of its most significant figures.

Ziaur Rahman established the BNP in 1978 and served as President until his assassination in 1981, while Khaleda Zia, his widow, later led the party and served as Prime Minister during two separate terms. Both remain central figures in the party's historical narrative and political ideology.

Fakhrul's tribute comes as the BNP continues to navigate Bangladesh's complex political landscape. The gesture reflects the party's efforts to reinforce institutional continuity and honor the contributions of its predecessors to the nation's democratic development.

The BNP, one of Bangladesh's two major political parties, has historically positioned itself as an advocate for nationalist politics and conservative economic policies since its founding four decades ago.
