Bob Mackie, legendary costume designer, dies at 87

Bob Mackie, the pioneering costume designer whose ornate creations defined the look of major entertainers for more than five decades, has died at age 87.

Mackie earned his nickname "Sultan of Sequins" through his signature style of intricately beaded and sequined costumes that became iconic across stage, television and film. His designs graced some of the entertainment industry's most recognisable performers, including Cher, Tina Turner, Carol Burnett, Elton John and Diana, Princess of Wales.

Throughout a career spanning from the 1960s onwards, Mackie became known for transforming performers' visions into wearable art.
