MANILA—The Bureau of Customs (BOC) moved Tuesday to prosecute some of its officers and personnel along with a licensed customs broker in connection with a large-scale smuggling operation involving misdeclared agricultural products.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno led the filing of six criminal complaints before the Department of Justice, stemming from the illegal importation of thousands of sacks of onions and carrots that had been falsely declared as chicken lollipops.
