The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported collecting P12.318 million from the public auction of forfeited refrigerant gases at the Port of Manila, marking a successful revenue generation effort from seized imports.

The customs agency held two separate auctions on September 10 and September 30 to dispose of the refrigerant gases that had been confiscated at the port. The combined proceeds from both sales totaled the P12.31 million collection.

The BOC regularly conducts public auctions of forfeited goods as part of its cargo enforcement operations. Such sales serve a dual purpose: generating government revenue while providing legitimate buyers access to goods at competitive prices through transparent bidding processes.

The auction represents part of the BOC's ongoing efforts to clear port inventory and enforce import regulations that restrict the entry of certain refrigerant products into the country.
