Officers from the Horana Police Division recovered the remains of a 51-year-old man from an abandoned plot of land near Ilimba Junction, across a canal in the Horana area. The discovery was made following a tip-off received by police, who subsequently launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Pokunuwita area. Authorities have classified the case as suspicious, prompting a formal inquiry into the circumstances that led to the death.
A Magistrate's inquiry has been initiated as part of standard investigative procedures. Police have cordoned off the site and are continuing their investigation to establish the exact cause of death and any possible criminal involvement.
The Horana Police Division is appealing to members of the public who may have information relating to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
