Bohol families receive millions in typhoon aid nearly five years on

TAGBILARAN CITY — The National Housing Authority (NHA) has provided financial relief to 4,884 families in Catigbian town, Bohol, who were impacted by Super Typhoon Odette, marking a significant step in the province's long-term recovery efforts.
The NHA distributed P48.84 million in assistance through a "Handog ng Pangulo" activity, acknowledging the continued hardship faced by residents in the years following the typhoon's passage. Super Typhoon Odette, known internationally as Typhoon Rai, swept through the region in December 2021, causing widespread destruction across multiple provinces in the Visayas.
The delayed disbursement highlights ongoing reconstruction challenges in affected communities. Catigbian, one of the municipalities hardest hit by the storm, has struggled with housing and infrastructure restoration despite the passage of nearly five years since the disaster.
The financial assistance is intended to support affected families in rebuilding their homes and restoring their livelihoods. The NHA's intervention underscores the government's commitment to addressing long-standing recovery needs in typhoon-affected areas across the Philippines.
