The Bombay High Court expressed surprise while reviewing a list of luxury vehicles associated with suspended police officer Sachin Waze during hearings on the NIA's petition against his bail in connection with the Antilia bomb threat case.
According to court records, the vehicles linked to Waze include a BMW, a Volvo, two Mercedes-Benz models, and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The compilation of the high-value automobile list raised questions about the officer's financial resources and prompted judicial scrutiny during the proceedings.
The case centres on the placement of an explosive device outside the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai's Antilia building in February 2021. Waze, a senior officer in the Mumbai Police's Crime Intelligence Unit, was arrested and subsequently suspended following the investigation.
The NIA, which took over the investigation, has contended that Waze's financial capacity and assets require closer examination as part of the broader inquiry. The High Court's reaction to the vehicle inventory underscores the judiciary's attention to details regarding the officer's lifestyle and means during the legal proceedings.
