Book Bar relocates to larger Tiong Bahru space to expand offerings

Book Bar, a fixture on Singapore's independent bookstore scene, is preparing to relocate to a new home at Tiong Bahru Community Centre. The move marks a significant expansion for the retailer, which has operated from Duxton Road in the central business district.

The new venue at Tiong Bahru Community Centre is currently undergoing renovation to accommodate the bookstore's operations. Upon completion, the space will be approximately twice the size of the shop's current footprint, providing considerably more room for inventory and customer activities.

The larger premises will allow Book Bar to expand its book collection and diversify its programming. The additional space is expected to support an increased schedule of literary events, author discussions, and community engagement activities that have characterized the bookstore's role in Singapore's reading culture.

The relocation reflects growing interest in independent bookstores as cultural anchors within communities. By establishing itself within a community centre setting, Book Bar is positioning itself to strengthen ties with the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood while maintaining its identity as a destination for readers seeking curated selections beyond mainstream retail offerings.
