Borosil Renewables to ramp up solar glass output by 60 percent

Borosil Renewables is moving ahead with a major capacity expansion at its Bharuch plant in Gujarat, adding two new furnaces to meet growing demand for solar glass in India's renewable energy sector. The expansion will increase the company's daily production capacity by 600 tonnes, representing a 60 percent jump from current levels. The enhanced capacity is expected to be operational by the financial year ending March 2028.

The Bharuch facility will become a key production hub once the new furnaces are commissioned, bringing total capacity at the plant to 1,600 tonnes per day. This expansion aligns with India's accelerating push toward solar energy adoption and the government's ambitious renewable energy targets.

Solar glass is a critical component in photovoltaic panel manufacturing, serving as a protective covering that allows sunlight to reach the silicon cells while shielding them from environmental damage. Domestic manufacturers like Borosil have been scaling up to capitalize on India's growing solar manufacturing ecosystem and reduce dependence on imports.

The expansion comes as Indian renewable energy companies face rising global competition and shifting international supply chains. By increasing domestic production capacity, Borosil Renewables is positioning itself to capture greater market share in the expanding solar glass segment.
