BRAC and The City Bank PLC have unveiled Digibox, a digital financial platform designed to bring banking services to underserved populations and support financial inclusion across Bangladesh. The joint initiative leverages BRAC's presence in rural and remote areas with City Bank's digital banking capabilities to deliver accessible financial solutions.
Digibox offers users a range of digital banking features including account opening, fund transfers, bill payments, and merchant services through a mobile-first interface. The platform is built to accommodate users with varying levels of digital literacy, making financial services more accessible to Bangladesh's broader population.
The partnership reflects broader efforts by Bangladesh's financial sector to modernize banking infrastructure and reach customers beyond traditional brick-and-mortar branches. By combining BRAC's community-based approach with City Bank's technical expertise, the initiative aims to facilitate digital transactions and reduce reliance on cash-based systems.
The launch comes as Bangladesh continues to prioritize digital financial inclusion as part of its economic development strategy. BRAC, the world's largest NGO by headcount, operates extensively in rural Bangladesh, while City Bank has established itself as a technology-focused financial institution in the country's banking sector.
