Brickfields set to host major National Deepavali celebration

KUALA LUMPUR — More than 10,000 visitors are anticipated to converge on Brickfields for the National Deepavali Celebration on November 14, organisers announced on Sunday. The festival of lights, one of the most significant occasions in the Hindu calendar, will showcase Malaysia's multicultural heritage through a day-long programme of activities and performances.

The celebration in Brickfields, traditionally home to Kuala Lumpur's Indian community, will feature traditional music, dance, and cultural displays representative of Deepavali traditions. Organisers are preparing the area to accommodate the expected influx of visitors, both from the local community and those travelling from across the Klang Valley.

Deepavali, celebrated in November each year, marks the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The Brickfields event aims to provide a focal point for communities across Malaysia to come together and observe the festival. Local authorities have indicated they are coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure smooth operations and visitor safety throughout the day.

The National Deepavali Celebration reflects Malaysia's commitment to honouring the diverse religious and cultural observances of its multiethnic population.
