BRICS delegates explore ancient Buddhist heritage during Andhra Pradesh visit

Officials from BRICS nations toured the Thotlakonda Buddhist site in Andhra Pradesh as part of the sideline activities during the Youth and Sports Ministers' meeting held in the state. The visit provided delegates with an opportunity to explore one of South India's significant archaeological landmarks, which dates back to the early Buddhist period.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was among those who participated in the visit, using the occasion to plant a sapling as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (One Tree for Mother) environmental initiative. The tree-planting activity underscored India's commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.

The Thotlakonda site, located near Visakhapatnam, is known for its ancient Buddhist monastery ruins and sculptures. The delegation's visit reflected the cultural and historical significance of the region, offering international representatives insight into India's rich Buddhist heritage.
