External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has urged BRICS member states to work collectively towards resolving economic obstacles that impede regional growth and stability. Addressing the BRICS Business Forum on Friday, Jaishankar highlighted the importance of transparent trade and investment frameworks as key drivers for strengthening economic ties among the bloc's nations.
The minister identified several critical areas requiring coordinated action, including the mitigation of supply chain disruptions, the establishment of genuine market practices, and the development of dependable logistics infrastructure. He stressed that BRICS nations must create a predictable business environment while fostering diversified commercial relationships that enable enterprises to access new markets and identify reliable partners across member countries.
"The fundamental objective is to facilitate easier market access and partnership opportunities for businesses in our nations, allowing them to connect supply networks and convert mutual complementarities into sustainable commercial ventures," Jaishankar said. He emphasized that increased economic activity coupled with enhanced economic security would translate into greater self-reliance for BRICS members.
The minister underscored that the current geopolitical environment necessitates stronger resilience among BRICS economies. "Our goal is to strengthen our collective capacity to absorb external shocks while maintaining competitiveness and connectivity in global markets," he added, noting that genuine market practices would be essential to achieving this balance.
