Senior tourism officials from Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and host nation India gathered in Jaipur on Friday to finalize the BRICS Tourism Ministers' Communique 2026, cementing collaborative efforts under the overarching theme of "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."

Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat presided over the meeting, which brought together tourism ministers and delegation heads including Brazil's Gustavo Costa Feliciando, Iran's Reza Salehi Amiri, South Africa's Patricia De Lille, and the UAE's Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri.

The Jaipur Declaration represents the culmination of India's coordinated efforts across the BRICS tourism sector during its 2026 chairship. The framework is designed to facilitate enhanced coordination on tourism policy, sustainable destination development and capacity building among member nations, leveraging the combined tourism potential of the five-nation grouping and its recent expansion.

The adoption of the communique signals BRICS nations' commitment to positioning tourism as a driver of economic growth and cultural exchange while addressing emerging challenges in the post-pandemic recovery landscape. The declaration is expected to guide bilateral and multilateral tourism initiatives throughout the coming year.
