Space analysts have outlined the potential benefits of establishing a joint BRICS satellite constellation, arguing that pooled resources could deliver substantial economic and environmental gains for member nations. The proposed system would combine Earth observation capabilities across Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, creating a unified platform for data collection and analysis.

Proponents of the initiative contend that a shared architecture would dramatically reduce operational costs for participating countries while making satellite imagery more affordable for users across the developing world. By distributing expenses and risks among member states, the consortium could achieve economies of scale that individual national programmes cannot match.

The proposal also addresses environmental concerns in space. Experts argue that coordinated satellite operations and consolidated orbital positioning could minimise redundancy and reduce the creation of debris fragments from defunct satellites and spent rocket stages—a growing hazard to active spacecraft.

India, which operates one of Asia's most active space programmes through the Indian Space Research Organisation, stands to benefit significantly from such cooperation. The arrangement would complement existing regional Earth observation capabilities while expanding data access for applications ranging from agriculture and disaster management to urban planning and environmental monitoring across South and Southeast Asia.
