BRICS unanimously condemns Pahalgam terror attack, vows zero tolerance stance

BRICS member nations have adopted a comprehensive stance against terrorism and transnational crime in their latest collective statement. The New Delhi Declaration, titled 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability', specifically condemned the April 22, 2025 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people and injured numerous others. The declaration represents a consolidated position by the five-nation bloc on security matters affecting the region.

The statement explicitly recognises that all acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, irrespective of when they occur, where they take place, or who commits them. Beyond the Pahalgam attack, BRICS members addressed broader security threats including illegal financial flows, cyber fraud, and emerging cross-border scam networks operating across South and Southeast Asia.

Leaders from the bloc reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, with particular emphasis on addressing the urgent need to halt cross-border terrorism activities. The coordinated position underscores growing consensus among major developing economies on security cooperation and the necessity of unified action against non-state actors and state-sponsored terror operations.
