Bride Rejects Groom at Altar in Punjab Wedding; Baraat Turns Back

A marriage ceremony in Guruharsahai village in Firozpur district, Punjab, collapsed on Saturday after the bride declined to proceed with the wedding immediately upon seeing the groom at the altar. The incident triggered a dispute between both families, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the ceremony and the return of the baraat.

According to available reports, the bride claimed that the photograph she had been shown during the engagement process depicted a different person than the groom who appeared at the wedding venue. The discrepancy between the photograph and the actual appearance of the groom prompted her to refuse to marry him.

The unexpected turn of events at the mandap sparked tensions between the two families over the alleged misrepresentation. Despite attempts to resolve the matter, reconciliation could not be reached on the day.

With marriage negotiations at an impasse, the groom's family decided to abandon the ceremony and return with the baraat. The incident highlights ongoing concerns in parts of Punjab regarding transparency in matrimonial practices and the authenticity of information shared during the matchmaking process.
