Bride vanishes with jewels, cash day after wedding in UP

A bride disappeared from her husband's residence in Hapud, Uttar Pradesh, barely 24 hours after her wedding, allegedly taking gold and silver ornaments valued at several lakhs of rupees along with cash, authorities said on Tuesday.

The groom, who had married the woman at a temple in Rampur, filed a complaint after discovering her absence. The family reported that significant quantities of jewelry and currency had also gone missing from the house.

Police began their investigation after reviewing CCTV footage from the residence, which documented the woman's departure. The footage is understood to be central to the inquiry as authorities work to trace the bride's whereabouts and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigations are continuing as police attempt to determine whether the woman acted alone or with assistance, and the exact value of the items taken. The case has raised concerns about matrimonial fraud in the region.
