Brisbane 2032 Olympics chief to exit before Games kick off
Cindy Hook, chief executive of the Brisbane Olympics organising committee, will step down in December 2026 upon completion of her four-year contract. The departure means Hook will not oversee the final preparations and delivery of the 2032 Summer Games.

Hook's exit comes as the Brisbane 2032 organising committee enters a critical phase of planning for the quadrennial sporting event. The CEO, who has led the committee since taking the role, will conclude her tenure at the end of this year, leaving successor leadership to manage the final push toward the Games.
The timing of Hook's departure signals a transition in the committee's management structure, with roughly six years remaining before Brisbane welcomes athletes and spectators from around the world. The organising body will need to identify and onboard new executive leadership to steer preparations through the final phases of venue construction, athlete accreditation systems, and operational logistics.
Brisbane secured hosting rights for the 2032 Olympics in July 2021, becoming the third Australian city to host the Summer Games after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000. The event is expected to bring significant economic activity to Queensland and test the region's infrastructure and hospitality capabilities on a global stage.
