BSF kills two suspected Pakistani intruders in Punjab border clash

Two suspected Pakistani intruders were shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Wednesday, according to official sources. The confrontation took place around noon near the international border as the individuals attempted to cross into Indian territory.

BSF troops detected the suspected infiltrators near the border fence and challenged them to halt. When the individuals failed to respond and continued advancing, BSF personnel opened fire in self-defense, sources said. Both suspects were killed in the exchange of fire.

Tarn Taran district, located in the Majha region of Punjab, remains one of India's most sensitive border areas. The district shares a substantial stretch of the international boundary with Pakistan's Punjab province, making it a frequent flashpoint for cross-border incidents and infiltration attempts.

The BSF has intensified surveillance and patrolling operations along the Punjab border following intelligence reports of potential infiltration bids. The incident marks the latest in a series of security operations conducted by the paramilitary force to prevent unauthorized border crossings.

Authorities have initiated standard procedures to identify the deceased and determine the exact circumstances of the encounter. Investigation into the incident is underway.
