BuCor files charges against CIW officials over missing trust funds

MANILA — Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. has ordered the filing of criminal, administrative and civil cases against two former superintendents of the Correctional Institution for Women and five other personnel in connection with suspected irregularities in the handling of trust funds belonging to persons deprived of liberty.
The directive, issued Wednesday, marks an escalation in the BuCor's response to alleged financial misconduct at the women's facility. The cases are expected to cover multiple legal fronts simultaneously, targeting both individual accountability and institutional safeguards.
