Buddhist monk hospitalized after falling ill en route to court appearance
Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was referred for medical treatment after experiencing a fainting episode while traveling to the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. His legal counsel informed the court of the monk's health emergency.

President's Counsel Anura Meddegoda notified Colombo Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva on September 24 that Ven. Gnanasara Thera had required immediate medical attention after becoming unwell during his journey to the courthouse.
The General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, a Buddhist nationalist organization, was scheduled to appear before the court on the date in question. His legal representation cited health complications that necessitated his hospitalization rather than courtroom attendance.
Meddegoda's statement to the magistrate indicated that Gnanasara Thera's condition had deteriorated sufficiently to warrant emergency medical intervention. The circumstances surrounding his illness were not detailed in court proceedings.
