Bukidnon haze stems from local weather patterns, not Indonesian fires
Philippine weather authorities have ruled out transboundary smoke as the cause of early morning haze affecting parts of Bukidnon, attributing the phenomenon instead to localized atmospheric conditions and temperature fluctuations.

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has clarified that haze blanketing portions of Bukidnon is the result of local meteorological factors rather than smoke drifting from Indonesian fires.
Christian Emmanuel, a weather specialist at Pagasa's Mindanao Regional Services Division, attributed the early morning haze to localized weather patterns and temperature drops occurring in the region. The clarification addresses concerns among residents that the reduced visibility may be linked to transboundary pollution from neighboring countries.
Temperature inversions and moisture accumulation during cooler morning hours can trap air near the ground surface, creating visible haze in affected areas. Such localized weather phenomena are common during certain seasonal conditions in Mindanao and typically dissipate as temperatures rise throughout the day.
Pagasa continues to monitor atmospheric conditions across the region and will issue updated advisories if conditions change or if transboundary smoke impacts are detected.
