Authorities in Bukidnon have taken into custody a 28-year-old man in connection with the death of a 20-year-old resident in Malaybalay City's Zone 1, Barangay Kalasungay. The arrest came hours after the incident occurred Sunday evening.
Lt. Col. Joepet Paglinawan, chief of the Malaybalay Police Station, said the suspect attacked the victim without apparent justification. According to the police chief, the perpetrator allegedly punched and stabbed the victim during the assault.
Investigators noted that the suspect had been dealing with domestic issues involving his live-in partner, though police indicated this may not have been directly connected to the killing. The motive behind the fatal attack remains unclear as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body of the victim has been turned over to the family for funeral arrangements. The suspect is being held at the Malaybalay Police Station pending the filing of formal charges.
