VALENCIA CITY — A solemn blessing and candle-lighting ceremony in Barangay Guinoyoran paid tribute to Rev. Fr. Neri Lito Satur on the 35th anniversary of his death, recognizing the priest's commitment to protecting Bukidnon's natural resources.

Fr. Teting Tumapon of Guinoyoran Parish Church led the commemorative rites at the site, gathering community members to honor Satur's legacy. The priest had become known locally as an "eco-martyr" for his uncompromising stance against environmental degradation in the province.

Satur's death resulted from his vocal defense of Bukidnon's forests and ecosystems at a time when such advocacy carried significant personal risk. Three and a half decades after his passing, his memory continues to inspire environmental consciousness among residents of the region.

The annual observance underscores the enduring impact of Satur's work and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who championed conservation efforts in Mindanao during earlier decades.
