BULAKAN, Bulacan – Commemorations of Gat. Marcelo H. Del Pilar's 176th birth anniversary proceeded in subdued fashion here Sunday as wreaths were quietly laid at the hero's shrine, with the ceremony curtailed by severe weather conditions.

Officials opted to cancel the full annual commemorative program in response to the inclement weather and hazardous conditions affecting the province.

Del Pilar, a prominent Philippine nationalist and journalist who lived in the 19th century, is traditionally honored each year on his birth anniversary.
