Agricultural officials in Bulacan have called for over P500 million in emergency funding to protect the province's farming sector from anticipated crop losses during an intensifying Super El Niño weather pattern.

The Bulacan provincial government has identified a critical funding gap as it prepares for severe agricultural disruptions expected from an intensifying Super El Niño phenomenon. Provincial agriculture officer Gloria Carillo formally requested P511.9 million to implement mitigation measures across the region's farming communities.
The requested allocation targets protection of the province's two primary agricultural sectors: rice production and high-value crop farming. Officials warn that without adequate preparation and resources, El Niño-induced drought conditions could devastate plantings across Bulacan's extensive agricultural areas, threatening food security and farmer livelihoods across the province.
The funding request represents a comprehensive emergency response package designed to cushion the economic impact on the farming sector. Bulacan's agricultural authorities are coordinating with provincial officials to secure the necessary budget allocation before weather conditions deteriorate further.
The province, one of the major agricultural producers in the National Capital Region periphery, has previously experienced significant crop failures during El Niño episodes, making advance preparation critical for protecting rural communities dependent on farming income.
