The Acting Police Commissioner of Sarawak, Saifullizan Ishak, said investigators are not treating bullying as a contributing motive in the case involving the student suspect. The police force is working to establish a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the attack through the forensic psychiatric assessment. "We are waiting for the forensic psychiatry report to help us determine the suspect's mental condition," Saifullizan said. The assessment is expected to provide critical insights into the psychological and mental health factors that may have led to the incident. Police have emphasised the importance of the psychiatric evaluation in building a comprehensive understanding of the case before proceeding with further investigative steps and potential charges. The incident has drawn significant public attention across Sarawak, with authorities maintaining that the investigation remains ongoing.
