Burglars target newly-appointed BJP minister's home in Kanpur heist

Kanpur witnessed a high-profile burglary on Monday when masked intruders forcibly entered the home of Ramesh Yadav, minister of the BJP's Uttar Pradesh Backward Classes wing. The attackers bound Yadav's hands and feet before making off with cash and ornaments from the residence, police said. The minister, who assumed office just thirteen days prior to the incident, was reportedly at home when the break-in occurred. Kanpur police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday. The incident has raised security concerns among state officials and prompted questions about protection measures for high-ranking government functionaries in the state capital.
