Burnham Lake welcomes back visitors after P480-million upgrade

BAGUIO CITY — Burnham Lake, one of the northern Philippines' most popular tourist destinations, has reopened its doors to the public after undergoing a comprehensive P480-million rehabilitation and improvement programme.

The man-made lake, a centrepiece of Baguio City's attractions, shut down in October 2025 to allow contractors to complete the upgrade project. The reopening on Tuesday brought back boat rides and other water-based recreational activities that have long drawn visitors to the scenic mountain destination.

The timing of the reopening marked a significant moment for the city, coinciding with Baguio's 117th Charter Day celebration. City officials have positioned the lake's restoration as part of broader efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and visitor experiences in the area.

Details of the rehabilitation project focused on modernising facilities and infrastructure at the lakeside attraction. The multi-year effort reflects ongoing investment by local government in maintaining and upgrading key tourism assets in the Cordillera region.
