Butuan water supply recovers to normal levels despite ongoing service disruptions

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — Water supply levels in Butuan City have rebounded to normal following recent rainfall that refilled the Taguibo Watershed dam, according to local water authorities. The recovery has increased the city's total daily water supply capacity to at least 60 million liters per day.

However, the restoration of adequate supply levels has not immediately resolved service disruptions across the city. Residents continued reporting dry taps and intermittent water service as of Sunday, suggesting that distribution infrastructure challenges persist despite improved capacity at the source.

The Butuan City Water District has not yet issued a detailed statement explaining the gap between restored supply capacity and actual delivery to households. Water officials typically attribute such service gaps to aging pipes, maintenance work, or unequal distribution across different service zones within the city.

The recurring water shortage has been a persistent challenge for Butuan residents. The restoration of the watershed dam's water levels provides temporary relief, though experts have previously warned that long-term solutions require significant infrastructure upgrades to prevent future supply crises during dry seasons.
