Ca Mau's provincial People's Committee has given the go-ahead for a wind power project valued at approximately 154.7 million USD, marking another significant step in the southern region's transition toward clean energy production. The project approval comes as Vietnam seeks to accelerate renewable energy development to meet growing electricity demand and climate commitments.
To maintain project momentum, Vice Chairman Huynh Chi Nguyen has tasked the Department of Agriculture and Environment with leading coordination efforts among relevant agencies. The department will guide procedures for land allocation and leasing, marine area designation, and environmental compliance throughout the development phases.
State agencies will share responsibility for regulatory oversight, inspection, and supervision to ensure adherence to standards and address any issues within their respective domains. The structured approach reflects provincial efforts to streamline administrative processes that have previously hindered offshore wind development in the region.
Ca Mau has positioned itself as a focal point for renewable energy expansion in the Mekong Delta, with multiple wind power projects in various stages of development. Industry observers have highlighted the removal of bureaucratic bottlenecks as critical to realizing the region's substantial offshore wind potential.
