Cabinet approves ₹13,041 crore transport infrastructure push across five states

India's cabinet has given the go-ahead for transport infrastructure projects valued at ₹13,041 crore, marking a substantial commitment to expanding the country's rail and road networks. The comprehensive package comprises four railway ventures and at least one major highway development, with work set to commence across five states.
The railway component of the initiative will introduce approximately 410 kilometres of new track to the national network. These projects are expected to improve regional connectivity and support economic development in target areas.
A key element of the highway programme is an 82-kilometre stretch on National Highway 22 in Bihar. The project aims to strengthen transport links to the India-Nepal border region, facilitating smoother movement of goods and people across this critical trade and connectivity corridor.
The cabinet's decision underscores the government's continued focus on infrastructure development as a driver of economic growth and regional integration. Transport projects of this scale typically generate employment during construction phases and improve long-term logistical efficiency across the regions they serve.
