Cabinet approves amendments to Sri Lanka Development Administration Institute Act

The Cabinet of Ministers has endorsed a resolution from the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Governments to advance the amendment process for the Sri Lanka Development Administration Institute Act No. 9 of 1982.

The approval provides formal clearance for the government to complete the drafting of proposed modifications to the legislation, which established the regulatory framework for the institute's operations and governance structures.

The Development Administration Institute plays a key role in building capacity within Sri Lanka's public administration system. The legislative review comes as the government seeks to modernize the statutory framework governing the institution's functions and mandate.

With Cabinet backing secured, the drafting process is expected to proceed toward finalization of the proposed amendments. Further steps in the legislative process, including parliamentary consideration, would follow the completion of the amendment text.

The move reflects broader efforts within the government to review and update foundational legislation to ensure alignment with contemporary administrative practices and institutional requirements.
