Cabinet green-lights multi-sport complex for Hubballi under PPP model

The Karnataka government has given its approval for the development of an integrated sports complex in Hubballi, marking a significant investment in athletic infrastructure for the region. The project will be executed through a public-private partnership model, allowing the state to leverage private sector expertise and resources for the facility's construction and management.

The comprehensive sports complex will cater to multiple disciplines and skill levels. The planned infrastructure encompasses an athletics track meeting international standards, a full-size football ground, dedicated courts for basketball and volleyball, and specialized hockey facilities. The complex will also incorporate indoor sports amenities to enable year-round training and competitions regardless of weather conditions.

Beyond core sports facilities, the development includes a 50-meter swimming pool with training areas, a well-equipped gymnasium, and a horse-riding training centre—reflecting the diverse sporting interests of the region. The complex will feature dedicated accommodation blocks designed to house visiting teams and resident athletes during training camps and competitive events.

The PPP model selected for this project is expected to expedite implementation while ensuring professional management standards. By combining government support with private sector efficiency, officials anticipate the facility will meet international quality benchmarks and position Hubballi as a significant sporting hub in South India.
