ROME — Cagliari striker Yael Trepy has been taken out of a medically induced coma and no longer requires mechanical ventilation following a near-drowning incident at a swimming pool on Sunday, the Serie A club announced on Tuesday.
According to the latest medical bulletin released by Cagliari, Trepy's condition has stabilised sufficiently to allow medical staff to discontinue artificial respiratory support. The footballer remains under close observation at the medical facility where he has been receiving treatment since the accident.
The 24-year-old was found unresponsive in the pool on Sunday and was immediately provided emergency care before being transferred to hospital. The club did not provide additional details regarding the circumstances of the drowning or a timeline for his potential return to training.
