The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Region IV-A has approved Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-06, marking a significant adjustment for domestic workers employed in Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal provinces. The wage increase reflects efforts by labor authorities to improve compensation standards for household workers across the region.
Domestic workers, including housekeepers, nannies, and caregivers, have historically been among the lowest-paid workforce segments in the Philippines. This latest adjustment aims to enhance their economic condition and ensure minimum wage standards are maintained in line with regional cost-of-living considerations.
The new wage order takes effect on October 26 and applies to all domestic workers covered under the RTWPB's jurisdiction. Employers operating in the affected provinces are required to implement the wage increase for their domestic household employees by the designated date.
The Calabarzon region, comprising provinces south and east of Metro Manila, is home to a significant portion of the country's domestic worker population. This wage order represents one of several regional adjustments the RTWPB has implemented in recent years to align compensation with inflation and economic conditions.
