Calabarzon measles-rubella drive passes midway mark in three weeks

LUCENA CITY — Health authorities in the Calabarzon region said Friday they have vaccinated more than three-fifths of their target population against measles and rubella in just three weeks of campaigning. The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Calabarzon reported that 758,454 children had received measles-rubella vaccines as of 10 p.m. Friday, representing 56.8 percent of the region's immunization target. The accomplishment tracker maintained by the agency shows steady progress in the drive to protect young residents from the two highly contagious diseases. Health officials in the Calabarzon region — which comprises Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces — have intensified efforts to reach remaining children in their target demographic. The DOH-CHD urged parents and guardians to bring their children to designated vaccination centers to complete the regional immunization program within the campaign period.
