Caltex and Petron, two of Malaysia's leading fuel distributors, have commenced compensation payments following widespread complaints about contaminated RON95 petrol. The compensation scheme addresses claims from vehicle owners who reported engine damage and mechanical problems allegedly stemming from fuel mixed with water.
The government initiated investigations after receiving numerous reports from motorists experiencing vehicle malfunctions linked to poor fuel quality. Affected drivers had complained of engine stalling, performance deterioration, and costly repairs required to restore their vehicles to working condition.
Both fuel retailers have established formal processes to assess and process compensation claims from affected customers. Vehicle owners seeking redress are required to provide documentation of damages and proof of purchase from the respective retailers during the relevant period.
The issue highlighted concerns about fuel quality control and storage practices at petrol stations. Authorities have strengthened monitoring procedures to prevent similar contamination incidents in the future and ensure product integrity across the supply chain.
Motorits with outstanding claims are advised to contact the fuel retailers directly or visit their nearest service centers to lodge formal complaints and submit supporting documentation for evaluation.
