Cameraman arrested over alleged assault on Wickremesinghe security officer
Police have arrested a cameraman employed by a private media organisation in connection with the alleged assault of a security officer accompanying former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The arrest was made following an altercation on Wednesday as Wickremesinghe was leaving the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court, where he appeared in connection with allegations concerning the misuse of public funds.
The cameraman, attached to a private media outlet, allegedly assaulted the security officer during the incident outside the courthouse. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault are ongoing.
