Camlin Fine Sciences Ltd. saw its stock decline sharply on Monday following the release of its second-quarter financial results, with shares falling 18 per cent to touch a 52-week nadir. The specialty chemicals company attributed the weak operational performance to persistent pressures from elevated raw material prices, which have constrained profit margins across its product portfolio.
The Chennai-based manufacturer, which produces fine chemicals and specialty ingredients for industries including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and cosmetics, has been grappling with cost inflation across its supply chain. Despite efforts to optimise operations and manage expenses, the company has been unable to fully offset the impact of higher input costs through price adjustments.
The sharp sell-off underscores investor concerns about the sustainability of earnings recovery as raw material price volatility continues to pose challenges for chemical manufacturers across the region. Market participants are now closely monitoring whether the company can stabilise margins in the coming quarters or implement further cost management measures.
Camlin Fine Sciences is among several specialty chemical manufacturers in India facing margin compression due to commodity price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions that have persisted since 2021.
