Canadian conservation group secures over 1,100 acres through landowner donations

A major conservation milestone has been achieved in southern Quebec, where Ducks Unlimited Canada has successfully safeguarded over 1,100 acres of natural habitat through a collaborative effort with local landowners. The initiative, funded by more than C$2 million in combined donations, represents a significant commitment to environmental protection in the region.

The preserved lands play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting biodiversity across the area. Wetlands and natural habitats in southern Quebec serve as critical ecosystems for numerous species and contribute to the region's environmental health.

To enhance community engagement with the protected areas, a 1.5-kilometre trail has been constructed, providing public access to the conservation sites. The pathway allows residents and visitors to experience and appreciate the natural habitats that have been secured through the collaborative effort.

Ducks Unlimited Canada's partnership with local landowners demonstrates the potential for private conservation initiatives to achieve significant environmental outcomes. Such donations reflect growing recognition among property owners of the importance of habitat preservation and ecological stewardship in their communities.
