Canadian mother hailed hero after rescuing drowning father and child
A Winnipeg resident has been praised for her quick thinking after wading into the Red River to save a father and daughter from drowning. The child, who was pulled unconscious from the water, is expected to make a full recovery following emergency intervention.

Jayclyn Morrissette demonstrated remarkable courage when she entered the Red River in Winnipeg to rescue two people in distress. According to reports, she managed to pull both a father and his daughter from the water after they began drowning.
After retrieving the child from the river, Morrissette immediately administered life-saving measures to the unconscious girl. Emergency responders subsequently transported the child to hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.
Medical authorities have indicated that the child is expected to recover fully from the incident. Her father was also treated for his experience in the water.
When commended for her heroic actions, Morrissette downplayed her role in the rescue. The Winnipeg resident stated she was simply responding as a parent would in such circumstances, suggesting her actions were instinctive rather than extraordinary. Despite her modest assessment, local authorities and the affected family have recognized her intervention as life-saving.
