Canadian startup scales up used EV battery recycling operations across North America

Moment Energy, established in 2020 by four engineers in a British Columbia garage, has launched its largest second-life battery manufacturing plant to date. The facility specializes in repurposing spent batteries from electric vehicles, converting them into energy storage systems designed to provide backup power for hospitals, data centres, and other essential facilities across North America.

The venture has achieved significant milestones in its operational journey, securing substantial capital investment and obtaining critical safety certifications required for large-scale manufacturing. These credentials position the company as a credible player in the rapidly expanding energy storage sector, which has gained prominence as industries seek reliable backup power solutions and sustainable alternatives to new battery production.

Momentum continues to build as the company announced plans to expand manufacturing operations into Texas, signalling confidence in market demand for recycled battery solutions.
