Cancer survivors took centre stage at a specially organized fashion show that highlighted their courage and determination in the face of illness. Runway of Courage, curated by Rozanne Diasz, provided a platform for survivors to walk the catwalk with confidence and elegance, turning personal journeys of resilience into a powerful public statement.
The event featured custom-designed outfits created specifically for the occasion by renowned Sri Lankan designers Dilini Seneviratne, known for her work with Kadapatha, and Subashini of Rustic Clothing. Each garment was tailored to celebrate the individuality and strength of the survivors who wore them.
The fashion show served as a dual celebration—recognizing both the personal triumphs of cancer survivors and showcasing the creative capabilities of local designers. By placing survivors in the spotlight traditionally reserved for professional models, the event challenged conventional fashion narratives while raising awareness about cancer resilience in Sri Lanka.
Initiatives like Runway of Courage demonstrate how the arts and fashion can be mobilized to support and empower communities affected by serious illness, while simultaneously providing a meaningful platform for survivors to reclaim confidence and visibility.
