Capital Markets Index Rallies 4% as Niche Stocks Surge

The Nifty Capital Markets index extended its winning streak with a 4% surge, reflecting robust investor appetite for domestic financial services stocks. Over the past four trading sessions, the specialised index has advanced 9.5%, substantially outperforming the broader Nifty 50 index, which gained 6% in the same period.

Among the index constituents, brokerage and investment platform stocks drove the momentum. Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Groww, and 360 ONE emerged as top gainers, each climbing as much as 7% during the period under review. The outperformance underscores growing confidence in India's retail investment ecosystem and digital financial services sector.

The rally reflects broader investor sentiment favouring financial services stocks, particularly those exposed to India's expanding retail investor base and digital wealth management platforms. Strong trading volumes and increased participation across segments have supported the upward movement.

Analysts attribute the outperformance to structural tailwinds in the Indian capital markets, including rising household savings, penetration of digital investment platforms, and growing interest in equity investing among retail investors. The performance gap between the Capital Markets index and the Nifty 50 highlights sector-specific strength independent of broader market dynamics.
