Carlsberg India reports revenue decline amid margin expansion

Carlsberg India's financial performance in the year ended March 2026 reflected a mixed picture, with revenue pressures offset by stronger bottom-line growth. The company's total income, including other income, declined 2.25 per cent to ₹8,814.96 crore, while core revenue fell to ₹8,708.8 crore from the previous year.

Despite the contraction in revenues, the brewer demonstrated improved profitability with net profit surging 22 per cent during the fiscal year. The divergence between revenue and profit growth points to the company's success in optimising costs and enhancing operational margins.

The performance underscores the challenges facing the alcoholic beverage sector in India, where taxation, regulatory shifts, and competitive pressures continue to weigh on sales. However, Carlsberg's ability to expand profits amid revenue headwinds suggests the company has made strategic gains in cost management and portfolio optimisation.

The results reflect the broader dynamics in India's beer market, where premium segments have shown resilience even as volume growth remains constrained by macroeconomic factors and changing consumer preferences.
