Carrick confident Man United will overcome poor form before Atletico clash

Manchester United face a stern test in European competition after enduring a challenging period domestically, with interim manager Michael Carrick tasked with steering the club through turbulent waters. The Red Devils have not met the standards expected of them in recent weeks, according to Carrick, who took on the role following Erik ten Hag's departure from Old Trafford.

Carrick's assessment of the squad's recent performances reflects broader concerns about consistency and execution. However, the experienced manager has backed his players to demonstrate the character and quality required to emerge from their current form slump. Such resilience will be tested when United travel to face Spanish heavyweight Atletico Madrid in what promises to be a demanding Champions League fixture.

The match against Diego Simeone's side represents a crucial opportunity for United to rebuild momentum and confidence. European competition has historically been a stage where the Manchester club has demonstrated its capability, and Carrick appears determined to tap into that tradition. How United responds to this high-stakes challenge could prove significant in determining the trajectory of their season.

With pressure mounting both domestically and in Europe, Carrick's backing of his squad suggests an attempt to maintain morale during a difficult transitional period. The manager's public confidence may prove an important factor as United seeks to regain its footing against one of La Liga's most formidable defensive teams.
