Cayetano challenges Dizon over shifting stance on Taguig ghost projects

MANILA — Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday pressed Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon to clarify his position on ghost projects in Taguig, following the official's recent statement that no projects from the city were among 10 "conclusive" ghost projects identified nationwide.

Cayetano, speaking during a Facebook livestream, noted the apparent inconsistency between Dizon's latest clarification and his earlier assertion that Taguig had no ghost projects whatsoever. The senator questioned whether the secretary was standing by his original statement or retreating from it.

Dizon had previously stated there were no ghost projects in Taguig. His recent clarification, however, appeared to narrow his position by specifying that no Taguig projects were among the 10 definitively identified ghost projects nationwide, leaving open the possibility that other problematic projects might exist in the city.

The exchange reflects ongoing scrutiny of infrastructure project implementation and accountability within the Public Works Department, with lawmakers pressing officials to provide consistent and transparent explanations regarding project status and completion.
