Satyendra Kumar, a prime accused in Bihar's high-profile fodder scandal, was taken into custody by CBI officials at Lucknow railway station following an operation that tracked him across borders. The arrest concludes an extensive investigation spanning more than two decades into the case that emerged in 2001.
The fodder scam, which dates back to the 1990s, involved large-scale misappropriation of government funds meant for animal husbandry in Bihar. The case had implicated numerous officials and middlemen in a web of corruption that drew significant public attention at the time.
According to CBI sources, Kumar had evaded arrest for years by frequently changing locations and eventually crossing into Nepal. His capture came after investigators traced his movements and coordinated with authorities to intercept him at the railway station in Uttar Pradesh.
The 25-year pursuit underscores the challenges law enforcement agencies face in tracking fugitives, particularly those who flee across international borders. Kumar's arrest is expected to add momentum to the CBI's ongoing efforts to close remaining chapters of the fodder case, with the agency continuing to pursue other accused persons still at large.
